Info
Zenith's Sanctuary, also known as "The Great Sanctuary" or "The Deep Sanctuary" is a base founded by 4 users: Daperfect, Jfirl, GreenDaniel and user named "Dylan". It's one of the greatest bases on Map 5, and is argued to be one of the most well kept secrets in the servers history most renowned for its immense civil and technical engineering, alongside some of the most impressive builds in the servers early history.
The base has no official name, but was referred to as "Zenith's Sanctuary" by historian _Deuuce for its monumental infrastructure that was made only in a matter of a few months whilst Map 5 was active.
Structures
The base itself is a complex network of many farms, houses, rooms and landmarks such as skycastles and ocean buildings, the majority of which is connected by a rail crossroads that has routes to the most important areas of the Sanctuary.
The 'Jesus' Rail
Arguably the most impressive construction within and leaving the Sanctuary is the railway named by a sign that states the "Jesus Rail". Fully built in survival by players Jfirl and Dylan, it stretches out for thousands of blocks, being one of the largest railways in the servers history, and likely the largest from Maps 5-8. As it was built in 2012, civil engineering to this extent was very rare on Minecraft servers, likely proving these individuals who constructed the railway were long ahead of their time.
The Cavernous Ravine
The main hub of the base takes place in a Ravine which spans a majority of the area. Multiple bridges cross the Ravine, connecting the large tree and food farms, and multiple rooms of the base founders. It acts as a dedicated travel area with various pathways and stairways expanding off of it.
The Underwater
The underwater dome, (featured as the main image on the title) is a technical engineering masterpiece for its time, as within this period of time in 2012, sponges were unobtainable in survival meaning the entirety of the area had to be cleared then a layer of glass had to be added to create the "dome" present in the image. Additionally, the concept of clearing out a large area of water for a part of a base hadn't really become mainstream in this period, primarily due to the lack of sponges in vanilla Minecraft.
The Farms
The Sanctuary hosts multiple farms, consisting of multiple cow, wheat, pumpkin, melon farms and an impressive tree farm that stretches down to bedrock. Each farm has its own dedicated area, with some such as the tree farm, receiving its own rail station and dedicated travel line. Although the most interesting of which is the cow farm which will be explained below.
The Skycastle
The Skycastle, also known as "Daperfect's Skycastle" is a large mega structure that is the visible component of the base. It contains a throne room for the "King" of the realm "Daperfect" and has an outside garden area with water fountains that looks across the entirety of the Map.
Mushroom Reserve Outpost
The Mushroom Reserve Outpost marked the end of the large 'Jesus' Railway, it was a Mushroom Island that contained a commercial theme park railway ride that expanded around the whole island, it's one of the furthest points traveled on the Map and marked the end of the Zenith's expanse.
Lore
The lore of this base is perhaps, what makes this base one of the most interesting in servers history, with very little known of the original founders or who they were, as they never went on to become Staff, it's likely they left the server before ever being remembered in its history.
- In one of the farming area's a Cow Mob Spawner is present, which is only obtainable and placeable in creative ways. This likely suggests Admins such as the legendary Doubl3Killz or froobynooby or even sparta754 visited the base and gave the spawner as a gift to the base members for their dedication to the server.
- But by far the most strange lore of this base, is that all members, Daperfect, Dylan, Jfirl and GreenDaniel were never recorded in the /first join command which was implemented just a year later in December of 2013, suggesting despite constructing one of the most renowned secrets in the servers history, they left before ever being recorded, eventually becoming ghosts in Froobworlds past.
