Spawn Town Underground Market
The Spawn Town Underground Market (STUM) was a collection of 40 automated player shops located in Spawn Town 7 on map 10.
History
STUM was originally proposed by froobynooby in a forum post. The idea was to allow players to set up shops that would work without having to be online without the fear of being stolen from. The shops were to be made using redstone and hoppers, allowing players to purchase up to 319 of any item in exchange for up to 63 of any stackable item.
The first set of 20 stores were completed not long after the start of map 10. The main contributors were froobynooby, cakebaker9000, PandaTurtlez, SwankyPhil and ReputedOcelot, with material donations coming from TheWindyRaven, TubenTubex and AlyssaSaysHi.
STUM was eventually expanded to include another 20 stores, bringing the total to 40. The extension project was largely driven by Topaz_Ring and Hobbeswyn.
This system of trading fell out of favour among players towards the later stages map 10's life. STUM was more-or-less abandoned with players opting to use trust based stores in Nab Town, Artore and in the outskirts of Westwood.
